Frequently asked questions about natural aesthetics in Edinburgh

What is aesthetic medicine, and how does it differ from cosmetic surgery?

Aesthetic medicine uses non-surgical or minimally invasive techniques to enhance your appearance. Think anti-wrinkle treatments, fillers and similar procedures – all designed to refresh your skin, smooth wrinkles, and define features without going under the knife.

On the other hand, cosmetic surgery involves actual surgical procedures to alter or improve physical characteristics. This includes procedures like facelifts, nose reshaping (rhinoplasty), and breast augmentation.

Does Dr Hala Aesthetic treat men as well as women?

Yes – We welcome everybody seeking to achieve their aesthetic goals. We understand that men and women have different concerns and desired outcomes. Regardless of gender, we offer personalised treatment plans to address your specific needs, whether it's wrinkle reduction, facial sculpting, or hair loss solutions.

Do your treatments hurt?

We prioritise your comfort throughout your aesthetic journey, and take steps to make sure you feel safe and secure throughout the entirety of your journey.

  • Being non-surgical in nature, you can expect very little discomfort during your treatment. Topical numbing creams are used as standard while administering dermal fillers, and can be used for other treatments upon request.
  • We encourage you to communicate openly throughout the treatment – If you need Dr Hala to slow down, just let her know and she will adjust her approach accordingly.
  • Most of our treatments are carried out relatively quickly, reducing overall discomfort.

How long do the treatments take?

  • Anti-wrinkle treatments - ~20 minutes
  • Dermal fillers - ~60 minutes
  • PRP vampire facials – 20-30 minutes
  • PRP hair treatments – 20-30 minutes
  • Hair peels - ~60 minutes
  • Axillary Hyperhidrosis treatments - ~30 minutes

How many sessions are required?

  • Anti-wrinkle treatments – A follow-up session may be required after two weeks; this will be discussed during your consultation.
  • Fillers – Some more complicated fillers will need to be carried out over more than one session.
  • PRP treatments (Facials and hair) – 2-4 sessions are required before results will be seen
  • Hair peels – Carried out over a single session
  • Axillary Hyperhidrosis treatments – Carried out over a single session
